Ingredients
1ea Herring 2lb 1c Water 2c Cider vinegar 3/4c sugar 5ea Dried hot peppers 5ea Bay leaves 2/3c black olives pitted chopped 2ts Coriander seeds 1 1/2ts Mustard seeds 1ea Carrot lg. scraped cut into- 1/8 1ea Onion lg. sliced thin 30ea Black peppercorns
Method
Bring the water, vinegar, & sugar to a boil. Cook
until sugar is disolved. Remove from heat & set aside.
In 2 large Mason jars layer the remaining ingredients.
Be sure to distribute the spices evenly throughout the
layers. Pour the mainade evenly over the contewnts of
each jar. Screw the lids on tightly, place into the
refrigerator for 5-7 days.
